New teacher resource for UKSP
Our hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism careers and information website www.uksp.co.uk will soon have a detailed teachers’ resource pack that supports the Diploma in Travel and Tourism at all three levels. By February, we’ll also have one on the GoSkills careers website www.careersinpassengertransport.org.
Both sites are a superb resource both for careers and progression information and provide a vast amount of industry information. However, the Diploma Development Partnership team felt that teachers in consortia needed a guide that would help them get the most from both sites and direct them to specific units in the principal learning specifications.
To ensure you’re one of the first to hear when these great resources will be available, go to www.tandtdiploma.co.uk – and register now.

Additional and Specialist Learning
Additional and Specialist Learning (ASL) presents enormous opportunities for learners enabling them to tailor their learning according to their interests and ambitions. The themes for the Diploma in Travel and Tourism for ASL have been shared with awarding organisations so they can submit qualifications which are completely relevant. This should capture interest and engagement from each consortium, and in turn elicit motivation, participation and success.
The ASL component of the Diploma also means that programmes can be tailored to local employment needs. Learners will be able to specialise and explore in more depth, providing them with a clear route into employment.
Work has now started on the Additional and Specialist Learning part of the Diploma in Travel and Tourism. A meeting has taken place with awarding organisations and a timeline has been developed for the submission of qualifications for ASL.
It is essential that learners are referred to career information and information, advice and guidance available when choosing their ASL options. The following sites all offer a wealth of information on careers, job opportunities, progression and qualifications.
