Joint events with the Tourism Society
The Diploma Development Partnership team and the Tourism Society held its first joint event at Bournemouth University on 24 September, attracting over 40 delegates from education and industry.
The event entitled ‘Tourism and New Media’ showcased the latest academic research on how the tourism industry can harness ‘virtual media’ and use social networking sites to market and promote business.
Speakers included keynote speakers from the communications industry including Matt Jerwood formally from lastminute.com, Andrew Pozniak from Google, James Poulter from Olgivy PR and Dawn Sims from Carter Communication as well as Phillip Alford from Bournemouth University.
The joint events are part of a series intended to support teachers and lecturers who plan to deliver the Diploma in Travel and Tourism and is an excellent opportunity for engaging with employers and setting up links with industry and higher education.
