HE Engagement

The end of 2009 was a busy time for the Travel & Tourism Diploma education team who  attended and participated in many HE-related conferences and events including the World Travel Market, HLST HE Academy Conference, ATHE Conference, and the Pan London Life Long Learning Network (LLN) Conference.

Interest and support for the Diploma is really gaining momentum with many universities, colleges, schools as well as employers keen to engage with the Diploma HE engagement team and identify how they can collaborate with delivery and continuous professional development (CPD) for local consortia. The education team has also been working closely with the Special Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) to support regional networks and disseminate effective teaching and learning resources for the new qualification.

The Life Long Learning Networks (LLNs) have been particularly supportive of the Diploma in Travel & Tourism and our work with HE and other education providers.  Consequently over the past 18 months, we have actively participated in conferences, workshops and other events with the West London LLN, Higher York LLN, LEAP Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire LLN, Linking London LLN, and South East London LLN.

We are jointly developing an event with the West London LLN and Thames Valley University at Heathrow Airport on Wednesday, 17 March 2010. The location was chosen as Heathrow is a major employer of the travel and tourism sector – employing over 68,000 people - and the largest UK airport and main tourism gateway into the UK.

The event will promoted to all regional networks and managed by SSAT, our workforce development partners.  We have also joined forces with SSAT & West London LLN to ensure that this event is part of the London Regional Network events.
